A devastating amount of plastic materials are produced by humans on a yearly basis. Over 16 billion tons of which are discarded into our water bodies. They then end up not only as pollution, but as toxic substances in our ocean’s vital food chain. This leads to the poisoning of our all maurine life.
Human activities such as excessive fishing and situations where careless fishers forget their equipment after the fishing activity are also responsible for the depletion of the aquatic ecosystems. These marine animals may also get entangled with this equipment such as the gears and the nets.
